Lisa Charlwood-Green is the Founder and Director of The WOW Network. The WOW Network was founded in March 2017, in response to a study which found that 64% of LGBTQI women in the workplace felt unable to come out. WOW is a direct response to this need for a group to support, guide and connect with LGBT women in the workplace.
Described as 'A Powerhouse of a Woman' by Pride in London, Lisa has actively championed for LGBTQI equality and diversity for over 19 years, from an LGBTQI counsellor, LGBTQI youth volunteer, and currently sits on the board of two charities, LEAP Sports and Outspoken Arts. She has sat on the board of two staff LGBTQI networks, and has consulted with universities, councils and government on LGBTQI workplace issues.
She was described by former Chief Executive of Network Rail, Mark Carne, as being ‘an inspiration to myself and many others’. She has the power to influence a great deal of people simply by living the inclusive values that she stands for.
Sarah is a trans member of The WOW Network. From her early years she remembered feeling different from other boys. However, she tried her best to fit in and be the boy people expected. She lived for dressing up, especially at Halloween. In her working life Sarah was a founder member of two LGBTQI employee networks and is currently Chair of her LGBTQI group. Outside work, Sarah is active as a Unite LGBT Committee member.
Sarah is an active member of The WOW Network, joining in 2018 and has participated in many events and Prides, including Sparkle. Sarah says: ‘The network has helped support me through my ongoing transition in the workplace, with the support and guidance through the online tutorials and the members group’.
